Lending Policies

General Collection / Reserve Collection

  • Only UB students, faculty and staff can borrow materials and equipment with a valid UB Identification Card.
  • Members of the Community may borrow by purchasing a membership.
  • Students are allowed to borrow a maximum of six (6) books on regular loan within any given 2-week period.
  • Books may be renewed once, if a hold has not been place on it.
  • Reserved books may only be used in the library for 2-hour periods unless otherwise specified.  Some reserved materials may be borrowed overnight, or on three (3) day loan.
  • Books cannot be borrowed if you have any overdue books or fines outstanding.
  • For lost/damaged items, patrons must pay the current market price plus $20.00 processing fee per item and accumulated overdue fines, up to a maximum of $50.00 per title from the general collection and $100.00 per title for ‘out of print’ books.
  • Fines are $0.25 per book per day for overdue books, $1.00 per book title for Reserve materials.
  • Unpaid fines will result in a “hold” being placed on your University account(s).

Special Collections

  • Composed of primarily Bahamian and West Indian materials, Special Collections is a closed area, accessed by library staff only, request information from this collection at the Circulation Desk. 
  • Materials from this collection may only be used in the Library for 2-hour periods unless specified.
