University of The Bahamas Faculty - use online tools to boost your scholarly profile and impact or to find collaborators for your research.

What is Scholarly Communication

"Scholarly Communication" is a phrase that is commonly used to describe the process of scholarly publishing, since that is the primary method for disseminating the results of scholarly research. However, it encompasses the entire cycle of scholarship - conducting research, managing data, making decisions about publishing options, and copyright. An understanding of scholarly communication assumes familiarity with:

  • author rights
  • the economics of scholarly resources
  • new models of publishing
  • open access
  • institutional repositories
  • rights and access to federally funded research
  • preservation of intellectual assets
  • copyright
  • data management

This LibGuide will help faculty use social media to promote their research and improve the impact of their research.
