Harry C. Moore Library Guide: Services & Collections

Library Services

  • Interlibrary Loan
    • Books and articles not available in the collections of the UB Libraries may be obtained from other libraries through interlibrary loan or a document delivery service. Requests can be submitted online (cobill@ub.edu.bs) or placed at the Reference/Information Desk at each library. The interlibrary loan service is free of charge to UB students, faculty and staff.
  • Bibliographic and Information Literacy Sessions
    • Reference librarians are available to conduct individual and/or group sessions. The sessions are designed to provide users with knowledge about the library resources, services and programmes while demonstrating search strategy skills which users can have for life- long learning.
  • Tours
    • Individual and group tours are conducted on request. Please contact the Reference Librarian at the particular library or request via email:referencedesk@ub.edu.bs.
  • International Standard Book Number (ISBN)
    • University of The Bahamas Library is the national distribution agency that assigns ISBN for new or republished books. The ISBN is a unique identifier which is assigned by a publisher to each book printed.
  • Cataloguing-in-Publication
    • The Cataloguing Unit within the library provides this service to local publishers when they are at the galley proof stage of the publishing process. This preliminary record assigns suggested subject headings and a call number, along with other bibliographic details, such as, whether the title will include an index or colour photos.

Library Collections

University of The Bahamas Libraries and Instructional Media Services (LIMS) has a collection of approximately 75,000 volumes, including books, microforms, audiovisual software, and an especially strong periodical collection in print, online, on microforms and in CD-ROM formats.

  • Reference Collection
    • This collection is comprised of over 3,000 non-circulating titles including general and subject encyclopedias, directories, digests, indexes, and dictionaries.
  • Reserve Collection

This collection is located at the Circulation Desk. Some materials are available on 2-hour, in-Library loan; others are available for overnight or three day loan.
